HydroCast Power Systems, Inc. has developed the Hydrant Emergency Power System (HEPS) — a portable, fuel-free emergency power generation platform that converts the kinetic and pressure energy of municipal fire hydrant water flow into stable, usable electrical power.
HEPS is engineered to serve two critical missions simultaneously:
Every component, algorithm, and operational mode in HEPS is engineered around one absolute constraint: Fire flow always takes priority. Always.
No power generation need — regardless of severity — will ever cause HEPS to restrict firefighting water supply below safe operational thresholds. This is not a policy. It is a hard-coded, sensor-driven, automatic system behavior.

H.E.P.S. integrates turbine-based generation, battery buffering, and GridSense AI™ control. The system operates using Hydraulic Recovery Mode™, allowing energy generation without compromising fire flow or pressure requirements.
While H.E.P.S. is a 2-man deployable unit to any area in need of power; a key innovation is the ability to network 4–6 HEPS units into coordinated loops. These loops allow units to alternate between generation and recovery cycles, while battery buffering maintains continuous output. This creates a resilient, self-regulating micro-infrastructure capable of sustained power delivery even under fluctuating pressure conditions.
